About the LDOS Expedition
LDOS (Learning Directed Operating System) Expedition is an NSF Expeditions in Computing project dedicated to building a clean-slate operating system that uses AI to move from manual heuristics to real-time, learned policy adaptation, driving computing infrastructure toward greater efficiency and performance. The project is led by Profs. Akella and Rossbach, and consists of 14 faculty members, 36 PhD students, and around 50 undergraduate researchers.
Timeline
Applications open Tuesday, September 1, 2026 and close on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
