LDOS Undergraduate Academy

Introduction to Learned Systems Research

Overview

We are excited to announce the launch of the LDOS Undergraduate Academy in Summer 2025.

The LDOS Undergraduate Academy is a self-paced course designed specifically for early undergraduate students interested in learned systems research. This fully virtual program aims to provide foundational knowledge in systems and machine learning, preparing students for research in the field of learned systems.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, you'll learn the essential skills and knowledge to dive into foundational research on learned systems and start making meaningful contributions in the field.

  • Scientific Foundations: Understand key concepts in research, including the scientific method and how it applies to computer science.
  • Build Your ML Toolkit: Gain hands-on experience with machine learning, from basic regression and data wrangling to using advanced tools like Jupyter notebooks and Pytorch models.
  • Systems Basics: Learn how operating systems work and how core abstractions and measurements make everything run smoothly.
  • Get Practical with Systems and ML: Start iterating on policies using machine learning to solve real-world problems.

Course Format

  • Fully online, allowing for self-paced learning
  • A blend of videos, text explanations, multiple-choice self-checks, and coding exercises
  • Upon course completion, you'll receive digital badges for LinkedIn, your website, etc.
