PhD Research School Overview
Join us for the second annual PhD Research School event hosted by the Learning Directed Operating System Expedition. This event explores the fields of operating systems, networked systems, machine learning, formal methods, and security, bringing together experts and early-career researchers to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in these domains.
Over the course of two days, participants will engage in a focused program that includes tutorials, lectures, and research presentations. The event will feature research presentations from leading experts in the field, allowing attendees to deepen their understanding of cutting-edge research. Participation is limited to a small number of students in order to foster deep conversations.

Application
The LDOS PhD Research School is designed for PhD students at all levels, postdoctoral researchers, and advanced students in machine learning and/or systems. Students from any university within the United States are welcome to apply. Application deadling is 11:59pm on March 22, 2026.

Associated Costs
If you are accepted to the PhD Research School, there is no registration fee for attending. Student participants who are not local to the UW-Madison area will have lodging covered and travel expenses reimbursed up to $700 through the LDOS Expedition Participant Support Funds.
